(Verse 1)
Hey yo, it's cultural warfare, American madness, everybody on the lookout, but where are the answers, some care little for the First Amendment but would go to war just to preserve the Second, and we do a disservice to high school graduates, when we ban books and censor passages, schools can't teach kids about havin' sex, and if they ask for that, they get abstinence, curriculums keep gettin' really dumb, so even if kids lack the facts they still pass the test, while close-minded conservatives, only teach one side to sheltered suburban kids, I'm tellin' you, man, the only way to further us is to stop cutting off info like tourniquets, and start opening up the dialogue, so I guess the real question is, why we're not
(Chorus)
Cultural warfare, American madness, everybody on the lookout, but where are the answers, it's a national debate, fear mongering, irrational and fake, yeah, it's cultural warfare, American madness, everybody on the lookout, but where are the answers, there's anarchy in the U.S., fight for what's right or freedom is useless
(Verse 2)
Religious traditions co-op the system, they join church with state 'cause of dogmatism, and turned Jesus to a symbol of hatred and interpreted his words into some bigoted statements, right-wing zealots never listen to gay kids, students try suicide, can't live with their pain and it's sad, I'm mad, we keep movin' back, losin' track of the human class, and some say they want lesser payment on welfare programs and education, they wanna reduce crime waves and save us, but don't properly invest the nation, they always talk about being fiscally responsible, while the expense of our defense is incomparable, if we had half the bombs and twice the books we might have twice the odds of half the crooks
(Verse 3)
We need less conspiracies about tyranny and more real solutions to steer for peace, and when it comes to the environment, we need scientists, not what the fringe thinks or quotes of what the Bible says, and Constitutional scholars always talk about the intent of the Founding Fathers, but next time ya ponder, remember they owned slaves, sometimes ya gotta update the problems, and update how ya solve 'em, it's a twenty-first century world that we're lost in, so many issues and mixed views within news, it's hard to sort it all out and get through, we're fightin' multiple wars, engulfed in a cultural storm, loss of jobs has us on a volatile course, oil runs high, lookin' for an alternate source, but without unity they're impossible chores
